If you’re enjoying The Last of the Polar Bears so far, you might also enjoy my previous work, Peach Fuzz, a three-volume graphic novel series about a prissy ferret named Peach who thinks she’s a princess.

In the warming Arctic of the near future, a mother polar bear and her two cubs struggle to survive. An all-ages comic. New page every Monday.
New readers, start here.

Hi everyone, I hope you’re enjoying the story so far! I wanted to let you know about a couple of exciting things happening next month.
First, I’ll be attending New York Comic Con next month (October 8 – 10, 2010 in New York City). You’ll be able to find me in the artist alley with the usual array of books, stickers, bookmarks and other goodies. If you’re attending NYCC, be sure to stop by the table and say hello!
The other exciting thing is that I’ve been working with a small press printer to produce a limited edition 34-page color book collecting the beginning of The Last of the Polar Bears, and it will be ready in October. It’s always been my intention for The Last of the Polar Bears to be viewed in print, so I’m really thrilled to be making it a reality.
I’ll be bringing the book with me to NYCC, but for those of you who can’t attend NYCC, the book is also available through my website. I’m currently taking pre-orders and will ship them the second week of October.
Follow the banner for more details about the book~!
Ever since I started working on The Last of the Polar Bears, my parents have started picking up the occasional polar bear related trinket for me. Last Christmas, it was a polar bear calendar and a beautiful book of Arctic photography. Recently, they gave me what can only be described as quite possibly the world’s ugliest polar bear toy. As my mom writes jokingly on the back of the tag, “Look, it has a smile”.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s SUPER BEAR!
Sorry–no new comic page this week, as I’ve been spending my time preparing for my trip to New York. Please accept this filler illustration as a substitute. You all have fellow comic artist Niki Smith to thank for putting the idea of a superhero bear in my head.
The Last of the Polar Bears will resume soon!
Remember, this upcoming weekend, October 8 – 10, I’ll be at New York Comic Con with a new 34-page color book, Pre-Dawn, collecting the beginning of The Last of the Polar Bears! If you’re attending NYCC, be sure to stop by my artist alley table (Table G-12!) to get your copy and say hello! <3
Here’s a sneak peek at Last of the Polar Bears – Pre-Dawn, fresh from the printers!
For those of you who won’t be at the convention, you can still get the book through my website. Click on the banner below for more details!
Hi everyone!
I had a great time at New York Comic Con. It was wonderful meeting with fans and introducing The Last of the Polar Bears to new readers! Unfortunately, I don’t have the next page finished quite yet. Post-convention recuperation took longer than expected, and now I have some freelance work to take care of before I can return to telling the bear’s story (gotta worry about paying the bills, sorry ^^;). As soon as I can, I’ll get that next page done–just keep checking back, or better yet use the handy RSS feed to be notified of updates. There’s also a mailing list (left sidebar) that I use for making big announcements.
Anyways, thanks so much for your patience! Last of the Polar Bears will be resuming soon!
Just a quick note to again say that I haven’t forgotten about The Last of the Polar Bears! Last month has been kind of crazy–between the preparing for and attending New York Comic Con, building a new website design for my art portfolio site, and now, doing some freelance work (fun stuff – for one, Fraggle Rock for Archaia Comics! <3).
Anyways, Last of the Polar Bears – delayed but not forgotten. Stay tuned!
It probably won’t show up on the RSS feed since I simply uploaded the new file over the previous one, so I’m posting this note to announce that The Last of the Polar Bears has been updated with a new spread. Enjoy!
I’m so sorry to keep everyone hanging on the storyline! I have the next 20 or so pages completely drawn, but unfortunately the last several months have been consumed with freelance work leaving me with no time to color and finish them. Freelance work has been good for keeping a roof over my head, but not so good for our polar bear family’s adventure. Speaking of keeping a roof over my head, the owner of the place I’m renting decided to unexpectedly sell her condo, so I’ve also had to put a lot of my energy into preparing to move.
I’m not sure when the next update will be, but hopefully I’ll be able to start fitting polar bear pages back into my schedule soon. As soon as I’m settled into a new place and finished with the freelance project, The Last of the Polar Bears will be my full time focus again, and I am looking forward to it. Every day, I read sad news about the problems polar bears are facing , so I feel it’s more important than ever to tell this story.
In the meantime… Thank you so much for your continuing support and patience!
-Lindsay
P.S. To ensure you don’t miss the next update, be sure to join the mailing list. ![]()
Just wanted to share this awesome link to a live HD webcam of wild polar bears as they migrate near Churchill, Manitoba, waiting for the ice to form. Beautiful footage in real time of polar bears. I’ve had it on in the background as I work on Last of the Polar Bears. <3
While I’m here… update on Last of the Polar Bears: I’m currently working on storyboarding the comic in its entirety. Expect a big reboot and frequent updates for Polar Bears starting early next year. Really exciting stuff planned…I intend to devote the whole next year to my bears! Thanks again to everyone for being so patient with me. *bow*

Drawing a Bear in 4 steps:
From Illustration School: Let’s Draw Cute Animals by Sachiko Umoto. Part of an adorable series of drawing books. I just adore Sachiko Umoto’s charming illustrations and whimsical approach to making cute animals that’s simple enough for anyone to follow. Reminds me of the Ed Emberley
drawing books I loved so much as a kid.
